Supporting educational opportunity
Amici d’Italia Lodge #2791 of Jacksonville, Florida, a local lodge of the Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America (OSDIA), congratulates area high school seniors on their approaching graduation and their decision to pursue higher education.
The Lodge scholarship program solicits applications for several one-thousand-dollar scholarships from deserving students with verified Italian familial lineage. These awards are intended to help recipients pursue a bachelor’s-level education at an accredited college or university.
Sons and Daughters of Italy organizations have a proud history of supporting deserving students of Italian descent through local, state, and national scholarship programs. Historically, more than fifty thousand dollars in scholarship funds have been awarded to students of Italian descent throughout Florida.
Students are also encouraged to explore national scholarship opportunities offered through OSDIA and the Sons of Italy Foundation.

Who May Apply
Scholarship eligibility
It is the goal of the Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America to promote, enhance, and encourage the study of Italian heritage and culture. This scholarship program is designed to benefit worthy students of Italian descent attending high school in the North Florida area.
Emphasis is placed on the “whole student” concept, including scholarship, leadership, character, service, and participation in school, community, church, and athletic activities. Unlike scholarship programs based solely on grades, OSDIA awards recognize balanced overall excellence.
Basic criteria
- The applicant must be a United States citizen and be able to provide documentation of Italian family lineage.
- The applicant must have a minimum unweighted grade-point average of 3.00.
- The applicant must be a graduating high school senior from Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, or Nassau County, Florida.
- The recipient must be accepted as a full-time, degree-seeking student at an accredited community college, college, or university.
- The recipient must enroll immediately following high school graduation, excluding summer sessions.
Award Administration
Scholarship fund disbursement
Funds are paid directly to the recipient’s school
Scholarship funds will be released by the OSDIA Lodge Chairperson to the bursar or financial-aid office of the receiving institution after receipt of an institutional acceptance letter and correspondence confirming the recipient’s intention to register for classes.
A recipient whose educational plans change must promptly notify the Lodge Scholarship Chairperson so the funds can be transferred to the appropriate institution.
Any unused funds must be returned to Amici d’Italia Lodge #2791 if the student terminates studies without transferring to another institution. Exceptional circumstances may be considered in writing by the Scholarship Committee on a case-by-case basis.
