About Us

Lodge No. 2791 of Jacksonville, Florida

Our History in Jacksonville

As part of the local community, our Lodge has become a cornerstone for celebrating Italian heritage and fostering meaningful connections. Through authentic cultural experiences, delicious food, and engaging events, our Lodge continues to bring people together in the spirit of camaraderie and shared values.

Our Connection to OSDIA

While our Lodge is deeply rooted in the Jacksonville community, we are also part of a larger family—the Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America® (OSDIA).

Founded in 1905 as the Ordine Figli d’Italia, OSDIA was established in New York City’s Little Italy by Dr. Vincenzo Sellaro and five other Italian immigrants. Their mission was to support Italian immigrants by helping them become U.S. citizens, providing health and death benefits, and offering educational opportunities.

Today, OSDIA is a national organization, connecting members across the country through a network of state and local lodges, including ours here in Jacksonville.

OSDIA Highlights

  • Established free schools to teach immigrants English and centers to help them become U.S. citizens.
  • Founded orphanages, homes for the elderly, life insurance and mortuary funds, credit unions, and scholarship programs.
  • Supported national defense efforts during World Wars I and II by purchasing war bonds and donating to the Red Cross.
  • Contributed tens of millions of dollars to education, disaster relief, cultural programs, and medical research.

By being part of OSDIA, our Lodge upholds this proud legacy of service, cultural preservation, and community support.
